COURSE OVERVIEW:
This course provides students with general background information on occupational
health and safety, and on the magnitude and variety of health and safety problems
worldwide, and explains the role of the health and safety representative.
Objectives:
At the end of this short course trainees will be able to:
1. Explain that occupational health and safety is more than accident prevention — that it encompasses all aspects of working conditions;
2. Explain why management’s commitment to health and safety is crucial;
3. Explain why training is a critical component of any health and safety programme;
4. Recognize a number of occupational hazards and some of the types of work generally
associated with those hazards;
5. Discuss the range of hazards in their own workplaces.
